Computing

The ubiquitous pervasiveness of the internet, along with an ever-increasing number of computer-based tools in both the home and the workplace, makes an understanding of Computing and of Information and Communication Technologies essential.
It is in this context that, at Eltham, we seek to teach young people about a broad range of technologies from the very beginning of their secondary school career whilst catering to those with a more specific interest. The Department teaches the ECDL qualification in year 7 to promote a basic level of facility with computers and GCSE ICT in years 10 and 11 for a greater level of proficency. In the 6th Form the school offers A-level Computing which is a more technical qualification which allows students more latitude to explore the world of technology in context.
