Target Two Point Zero

A team of upper sixth students (4 or 5) will be selected at the start of the A2 course. The team need to prepare a presentation that they will give to representatives from The Bank of England. The team are asked to take on the role of the Monetary Policy Committee - setting an interest rate that will keep inflation on target with the government's aim of 2.0 (CPI).

Pro Share Portfolio Challenge

All students, from both subjects, are encouraged to form a team and enter this fantasy share trading game. Each group is given an imaginary £100,000 to invest in a virtual portfolio. The Pro Share portfolios are linked to what really happens on the London Stock Exchange. The team who has the most valuable portfolio at the end of several months trading wins.

Institute of Directors Competition

A team of four Business Students are asked to prepare a business plan based on a theme and data that is presented to them on the day of the competition. The team then present the idea to a panel of judges, and an audience containing fellow competitors from other schools. The competition is very similar in nature to Dragons Den.  Last year the Eltham College team came second.

Various Essay Competitions

All students are encouraged to submit work for competitions organised by various organisations; Royal Economics Society, Tutor 2 U, Institute of Directors, Economics Today, Business Review etc.
