Scholarships & Financial Assistance

Scholarships

Up to 20 academic awards are available annually to 11 year old entrants. They are open to all, whether current Junior School pupils or new applicants. These can be up to 50% of fees.

Up to 15 Sixth Form academic awards are available annually to current Year 11 and new applicants.

Music and Sport scholarships are also available at both 11+ and 16+. These scholarships can be up to 50% of fees.

Drama, Art and a Leverhulme Trust Scholarship are available at 16+ only. The latter is open to children of Chemists, Commercial Travellers or Grocers. Further details are available from the Admissions Secretary. A minimum level of achievement is expected and details are available from the Admissions Secretary.

All scholarships are given at the Headmaster's discretion and are subject to review annually.

Financial Assistance (Bursaries)

Bursaries are provided to those parents who need financial assistance to pay the fees.

The value of Bursaries as a proportion of fees will be dependent upon the financial circumstances of parents but as a guide, those earning £15,000 or less could be awarded a full bursary of 100% fees remission while those earning £30,000 could be awarded a bursary of 50% of fees. Even those earning £40,000 could qualify for some fee remission.

Applicants for Entry Bursaries will be considered on the basis of their performance in the entrance examination and at interview. Parents will be asked to complete a confidential statement of financial circumstances; if a Bursary is awarded, its value will be reviewed annually.

Trust Funds provide a 'safety net' to help current pupils whose parents encounter financial hardship. The value, up to full fees, depends on family circumstances.
