Commemoration Day
On January 30th 2012 the whole school, both Senior and Junior, at different times during the day will gather in the Chapel for a service of Christian worship.
100 years ago the community of Eltham College held a service of Dedication to thank God for the 'beautiful new premises'.
Now, as those who are part of a living tradition, there will be the opportunity to be grateful for the past; but, even more than that, there is the invitation to thank God in this our generation. It was faith in the uniqueness of Jesus Christ which inspired the very reason for the School's existence. The challenge of Jesus Christ as 'The Way, the Truth and the Life' remains.
We will hear words from the Bible, sing hymns of praise (one of which has been written especially for the occasion by Rev Christopher Idle OE) and have the chance to pray.
God, through His people, brought Eltham College into existence. God inspired those who had the vision to make the move from Blackheath to Mottingham. We will thank God for the gift of this School, but, even more, we will seek to offer worship to Jesus Christ, the giver of every good and
perfect gift.
