Hockey results v Bancroft's

1st XI WON 2-0 (Alex Tate, Dom Elliott)
The 1st XI continued on their fine run, winning a one-sided game against Bancroft's. The score line, although close, really didn’t reflect the game as Bancroft's had clearly arrived with the express desire to keep the score line respectable. They consistently kept 11 men behind the ball and invited pressure on them at every opportunity. It was pleasing therefore to see two very fast and intricate passing moves create the two goals in the first half. Charlie Speller (picture right) picked out Ed Bull who in turn fed the ball to David Lawrence. His clever inside pass again found the captain Charlie Speller who played a smart pass across the top of the D where Alex Tate arrived to slap the ball into the bottom right of the corner. The second followed soon afterwards as another good run down the left flank by David Lawrence created space for Charlie Speller to fire the ball at the far post where Dominic Elliott was lurking to deflect the ball into the top left hand corner of the goal.
This effectively wrapped the game up as the Bancroft's team rarely threatened the Eltham goal, however, goalkeeper Ben Sales did make one very accomplished save from a dubiously awarded short corner. On a very cold afternoon the result was well deserved and sets the team up well for the visit of Kent College this Saturday.
