Admissions to the Junior School

Entry Procedure
For the 7+ entry (Year 3) there is no formal examination, but there is an assessment with the Master of the Junior School and the Director of Studies, with tests in reading, language skills and mathematics. This lasts about one hour fifteen minutes in total. The tests are administered in small groups and are taken simultaneously in order to recreate a classroom working atmosphere in which focus, concentration and independent working can also be gauged.
This process normally takes place in January, following a familiarisation 'activity morning' on a Saturday in early January for all registered 7+ entry candidates.
Children are otherwise usually admitted to the Junior School by means of written test and an opportunity to experience a day in the life of the school. Sometimes a few places are available in Year 4. Places rarely become available in Years 5 and 6.
Scholarships
There are no Scholarships available for the Junior School. But a number of Scholarships are available at age 11 years for entry to the Senior School, and the Junior School has an excellent record for achieving such awards. On average, over recent years, 10 Junior School pupils per year have received offers of academic, sport or music scholarships.
Open Mornings for the Junior School
For 2012 entry, the Open Mornings have already taken place.
For 2013 entry, the Junior School Open Morning is on Saturday 15th September 2012 from 10.00am-12.30pm.
If you are unable to attend, we would be happy to show you around the school. Please telephone if you would like an individual appointment to discuss entry to the Junior School. The number is 020 8857 3457.
