Five pupils play with London Philharmonic Orchestra
Five of Eltham College’s musicians had the privilege of playing alongside the professional musicians of the London Philharmonic Orchestra on Tuesday 7th February. As members of the Bromley Youth Music Trust’s Symphony Orchestra, the boys received an invitation to participate in a concert presented by the LPO in Royal Festival Hall.
The pupils performed Danse Macabre by Camille Saint Saëns with the renowned LPO, and enjoyed hearing the LPO alone perform a number of other compositions which feature on GCSE exam syllabuses.
Matthew Burgess (Upper Sixth; bassoon), Matthew Segarty (Upper Sixth; French horn), Louis Barclay (Lower Sixth; trumpet), Ajay Kapur (Year 10; violin) and Arjuna Jaishankar (Year 9; double bass) all had the honour of performing with the orchestra which is considered to be one of the country’s finest.
