Careers in Modern Languages
On Tuesday 28th February the Modern Languages Society collaborated with the Careers Forum to hold the first Working with Languages evening. The aim of these events is to invite a range of speakers from various fields of work to share their experiences and offer practical advice to current pupils from Years Ten and upwards. The panel covered a wide range of careers (Banking, Translation, Marketing, Stockbroking, Television Presenting, Reinsurance, Tourism) and illustrated the major influence which learning a modern language can have on our professional and personal lives. The message from across the areas of expertise was clear: the workplace is global and British pupils who fail to equip themselves with a language will be at a distinct disadvantage in an increasingly competitive world. We would like to thank all of the speakers for their insights and advice.
