Community Service Senior Citizens' Party

At the end of February 2009 a group of Eltham College's talented male singers from the Lower Sixth started to teach groups of primary school boys to sing. They had three sessions with each group and taught them two or three songs each. The aim was to bring them together for a concert at the end of the summer term. This was no easy task as some of the boys did not believe that they could sing. Unfortunately the boys from Gordon School were unable to attend on the day of the concert.
On Thursday 25th June, at 10 am, boys from Mottingham, Middle Park and Burnt Ash primary schools arrived to rehearse together for the first time. Hamish Greer, Phil Franklin, Greg Liddington Will Oram and Matt Stokes worked them hard, separately and then together until lunchtime. In the afternoon, the local Senior Citizens arrived for their annual party. The primary school entertained them with five songs including two rounds. They were rightly applauded for their effort which was excellent, especially considering the time they had to rehearse. Well done to all involved.
