ECCO concert a resounding success

The Eltham College Community Orchestra (ECCO) concert on Saturday 3rd July was another wonderful evening. Once again ECCO presented a varied programme of popular orchestral and choral classics - Mozart's Cosi fan Tutte Overture and Elgar's Nimrod, together with a medley of tunes from the Sound of Music and the theme from Jurassic Park. Handel's popular Coronation anthem Zadok the Priest was performed by the massed choir, as well as arrangements of Traditional Spirituals by the English composer John Rutter, including Steal Away, Battle of Jericho, Some times I feel like a motherless child and O when the saints! As always, the audience was encouraged to join in the singing of 'Last Night of the Prom' favourites, including Land of Hope of Glory during a performance of Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1 and Jerusalem.
Thanks go in particular to the marvellous soloists: Anna Simmons OE (sang Feel the Spirit), Emma Burgess (Flight of the Bumblebee on Clarinet), Matthew Stokes and Michael Dale (pianists in Carnival of the Animals), as well as to compère Hamish Greer.
