Politics Society
As all teaching is non-partisan and curriculum-driven, the Eltham College Politics Society serves as a means through which students and staff can discuss political issues, events, personalities and generally give vent to opinions and let off steam built up during lessons. The Society organises both in school and out of school events and speaker meetings with the bulk of the organisation and management embraced by the students themselves. It is transparent and democratic and an ideal school for pending Machiavellians to hone their skills before moving onto student or even 'proper' politics.
Visits
The Politics and Government department sponsors an annual trip to the Houses of Parliament and other institutions and events as and when they arise. Recently, students have attended a Fabian Society debate on the future of the House of Lords in a committee room of Houses of Parliament and an Adam Smith Institute Seminar on the future of politics and economics in an era of mass communication.
