Sixth Form - Liberal Studies

In the Upper Sixth, one afternoon per week is devoted to the Liberal Studies programme, which is a non-examined course designed to offer a new challenge. It has three strands to it; taught courses, visiting speakers and excursions. The taught courses have recently included such activities as Tai Chi, Salsa dancing, practical film-making, photography, introductions to Italian and Russian language and culture, first aid and British and American cinema. The speaker meetings have had such diverse topics as alien encounters and the dangers of drug trafficking in foreign countries. The excursions are intended to broaden students' cultural experience and have included trips to the ballet at the Royal Opera House, television and radio recordings, plays, concerts, art galleries and an opera at the London Coliseum.
