Fencing

Fencing at Eltham College has been established for 5 years and in that time boys from the school have won local, regional and National competitions, and have represented England internationally. In the last two years we have been Kent and Surrey Champions, South East England Champions, British Team Champions, 2nd and 3rd in England, and have fenced in France, Poland and Slovenia.
Even though fencing is an individual sport we put the emphasis on team work. Our motto "we train together, we compete together, we win together" is the secret behind our success.
After school fencing is available in the Junior School from Year 3 upwards on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and Senior School fencing is after school on Friday. All fencers start learning foil, and later can learn epee (or occasionally sabre) at the coaches' discretion.
Keen fencers are invited to join the school club, and have more advanced coaching on Sundays, which includes fitness programmes, coaching in all 3 weapons, video analysis and performance coaching. Fencers are encouraged to have instruction and qualify in refereeing and armouring, and older fencers can train to be coaches. More information can be found on the school fencing club's website.
