Hockey team reach Kent semi-final

Thursday 3rd February

ChrisHarden1st XI v Borden Grammar School

Eltham College   WON   2-0  (Chris Harden 2)

The 1st team made their way to the semi-final of the Kent Cup with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over a very physical and aggressive Borden side.  The first half was a very even affair with both sides hitting the post and both goalkeepers making very good saves.  As always with cup games the pace was quick and the tackles at times were physical to say the very least, but the Eltham College team were not about to be bullied out of the cup and stood up to the task.

The second half saw the superior fitness and ball speed of the Eltham side start to take its toll, and as the game wore on Borden dropped further and further back towards their goal. The deadlock was broken with 14 minutes to play by Chris Harden (picture right) who drag-flicked a short corner into the bottom right of the goal.  The second wrapped the game up with 6 minutes to play.  Eddy Forshaw, who had run the midfield the whole game, found Tom Pearce who in turn picked out Joe Richardson.  He slipped the ball neatly to Chris Harden in the D who turned his man and smashed the ball into the bottom left of the goal.

The result takes the team to Finals Day on 16th February, when they will face Kent College in the semi-finals.
