U12 and U14 Ski National Finals
On Saturday 8th October the 34th English Schools Ski Association National Finals were held at Stoke on Trent Ski Slope. The Eltham College U12 and U14 teams had both qualified at the regional qualifying rounds a couple of weeks earlier.
The U12s (Diaco Abrishami, Brett Morton, Dillon Robertson and Ata Suleyman) and the U14s (Alessandro Codogno, Sam Gaskin, Richard Trew and Yatin Tanna) travelled to Stoke on the Friday for some pre-race training before representing Eltham College in the races on Saturday. In appalling weather conditions both teams competed against the best race teams from across England so they were faced with tough opposition. The U12s raced hard on the day but were not placed in a medal position. The U14s narrowly missed out on a podium position, by a 300th of a second!
We had two boys in the top ten in the U14s: Sam Gaskin (left) was placed 3rd and Richard Trew (right) 8th.
The boys are to be commended on their efforts and were very grateful to Mr McIntyre who travelled to Stoke to support them at the race.
