About the Junior School

In our Junior School there are approximately 200 boys between the ages of 7 and 11 years.

The Junior School is an integral part of the whole school, with its own Head – Mr Keith John – who is responsible for the day-to-day running of the school and is happy to show you round the school. Please telephone if you would like an individual appointment to discuss entry to the Junior School.

All the Junior School staff are qualified and specialists in the education of the primary age group.

Although part of a large whole school, the Junior School (Y3-Y6) retains its own identity, thus enabling each boy to feel part of a smaller unit and to have a sense of identity and belonging. Each boy is treated as an individual.

Facilities at the Senior School are utilised by the Junior School: these include the swimming pool, Eric Liddell Sports Centre, drama theatre, chapel and dining hall. Year 5 boys spend an afternoon at the Senior School in preparation for their transfer in due course.

The Junior School consists of three classes of 7 year olds – 3JD, 3JP and 3LER; two classes of 8 year olds – 4SB and 4WS; two classes of 9 year olds – 5RJ and 5LW and two classes of 10 year olds – 6JG and 6MO. The class size is between 18 and 25 pupils.
