The German Department’s first visit to Berlin this year took place on a particularly stormy weekend in early March. A group of thirty boys from Year Eleven battled a vicious area of low pressure named Emma, but she did not thwart them as they explored the sights of this fascinating city. They queued for a good hour to climb Sir Norman Foster’s glass dome atop the Reichstag, and spent the late evening watching a less than amusing German film called Ossis Eleven.

On Sunday afternoon they travelled out to the Olympic Stadium to dream the dream of playing in the final of the World Cup, before concluding their tour of Berlin’s sights at the recently marked Hitler bunker. Along the way they saw the Holocaust memorial, Checkpoint Charlie, Alexanderplatz and the remains of the Wall.
