Cricket successes for all ages

An outstanding season so far is capped by three century makers!

The 2006 season has been a very pleasing one so far with all of our elevens tasting success. The first XI have had a remarkable year so far with victory’s  against John Fisher, Cranbrook, Brentwood, Trinity, Wilmington, Bancroft’s and St.Dunstan’s. The boys have worked tirelessly as a team throughout the year with a few individual’s coming to the fore at the right times to influence games. Richard Pearse has had a very good year with the ball, not least against Brentwood where his spell was quite superb. Rob Kennedy has been solid at the top of the order and David Roffey has been equally useful with both bat and ball. But undoubtedly the star this year has been Michael Lawrence who’s impish foot work and powerful stroke play has seen him score well over 450 runs in 7 innings at an average of just under 80, with his innings of 142 n.o. against St.Dunstan’s being the jewel in the crown. The Under 15’s have been in extraordinary form this year and were unfortunate not to be at their best when coming up against an inform Borden GS in the Kent Cup losing by 55 runs. Considerable contributions from James Pearse, Ankit Patel and Manjeet Bahra with the bat have helped the cause on a number of occasions but the hero of recent weeks in the cup has been the irrepressible Tom Archer who’s laid back, West Indian style batting saw the boys through to the final. A big mention must go to Saif Sait whose spin wizardry has seen him pick up a number of wickets and tie down many opposition batsmen. The U15’s record speaks for itself, played 15, won 13, and lost 2.

The U 13’s have been fantastic so far. They are still in the cup and take on Sackville School next week in the third round which Mr.Mander is very keen to win. There have been a number of individuals in this age group who have had very good seasons thus far. Richard Fleming is a very fine player scoring 101 n.o. against Sevenoaks School recently, as is David Giles both of whom have contributed with the bat consistently. Joe Smith-Morgan and Will Goddard have bowled very well and continue to impress week in week out. Chris Harden has scored not only a hundred against Bancroft’s for the school but a double hundred for a Mid Kent XI against a West Kent XI at U13.
