With a breath-taking view of Ben Nevis never far away, the expedition was bound to be of high calibre as far as the scenery was concerned. The Duke of Edinburgh Silver expedition groups set out from the Kinlochleven campsite into the forest of trees and imposing mountains. The constant map checks, bearing points and trekking were to test the teamwork, stamina and friendship of each team member. The meals were either out of the tin cans or ‘Super Noodle‘ packets together with regular doses of sugar spikes in the blood system in the form of mars bars and smarties.

The terrain was really difficult and marshy and on a number of occasions, we got mud up to our knees - we were really glad when we were finally picked up by Mr Marlot and Mr Weatherly. Fort William and civilisation were in sight and that meant that all the Ferrro Rocher Chocolate that had stayed on top of Emmanuel's rucksac could be eaten at once, leaving us with sweet memories of our expedition.
