Roman Holiday
During the recent February half term a four day tour of Rome was enjoyed by Latin students from Years 10, 11 and the Lower Sixth. The twenty-one strong party visited the ancient sites of the Colloseum, Forum Romanum, Trajan's Column and Pantheon on the first day - all in glorious sunshine! A well earned rest was then taken in the Piazza Navona where the staff enjoyed cappuccinos while the students got stuck into huge ice creams from the fabulous ice cream parlour ‘Giolitti’. An evening wander out to the Trevi Fountain was rounded off at a nearby restaurant which served up wonderful Italian cuisine. The next morning monstrous queues for the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel forced a change of plan – allowing for an exploration of St Peter's Square and Basilica, where the view from the Dome was absolutely tremendous! In the afternoon the students watched a film on the history of Rome at the Time Elevator and the second day ended at the action packed and fun filled Luna Park where rides of the dodgems prevailed! The final day was spent (window) shopping along the world famous Via Condotti and visiting the popular Spanish Steps.
