Serious Fun with Science on Saturdays
'Serious Fun with Science on Saturdays' is not a contradiction in terms but a programme of twelve Saturday morning practical science experiences given by experienced teachers from the five schools (Eltham College, Archbishop Tenison, Hayes and Darrick Wood) which make up The South London State and Independent School’s Partnership. The well appointed science laboratories of Eltham College, together with its science technicians, are home for the first six sessions which involve over forty young children from Darrick Wood, Farnborough and Smitham Primary Schools. The scientific topics being taught are extremely diverse and range from chemical reactions to chromatography and from forensic science to iron in your cornflakes! The two hour long interactive sessions will hopefully allow the children to develop an interest, if not a passion for, exploring and understanding the complex world in which live. The programme which runs from November 17th through to January 19th 2008 has kindly been funded by SHINE.
