New School History Book: Our Century
![]()
2012 will be a year of celebration at Eltham College as we remember the 100 years since the School for the Sons of Missionaries moved to our current site in Mottingham and became Eltham College.
Our Century is a new book documenting this history. Based around more than three hundred pictures and supported by memories, research and anecdotes, the book describes life at our school over those hundred years: the World Wars, including the evacuation of the Boarders to Taunton; the time the school ran out of money and nearly closed; the first girls; the new Junior School and much more.

The eight Headmasters during that time are analysed in detail, as well as many other staff, especially those who spent most or all of their working lives here. As well as dozens of pictures of boys and girls through the decades, the book contains colour pictures of all current pupils, teaching staff and everyone else who is at Eltham College in our Centenary Year 2011-12. Written by Mark Stickings, the school archivist, who has been associated with the school for over 30 years, the book costs £20 (plus p&p) and can be ordered via the link above.
