This year is proving to be Eltham College’s most successful netball season ever, with an undefeated season so far. The netball talent is exceptional and has been nurtured and encouraged by Mrs Andrews, Coach and Mrs Dunbar.
After a few short weeks the A and B teams were formed and training was well underway. Despite being at a brand new school, surrounded by new people, a new environment and differing game play, the girls gelled well, worked hard and formed a solid team. Both teams have performed incredibly well, improving on their existing skills as well as establishing and strengthening friendships along the way.
After only three weeks of the term, the A team competed in the U19 Kent Schools Tournament in Rainham, winning every game and finishing top of the group to qualify for the Kent Finals.
Their success and unbeaten record continued at the finals on Saturday 25 November where they were crowned U19 Kent County Champions. The team triumphed winning 12-4 against Tunbridge Wells Girls Grammar, 10-9 against Invicta Grammar, drawing 4-4 against Beneden, then continuing to win against Walthamstow Hall 11-3, Sevenoaks School 7-3 and Kent College 12-2. The girls will now continue to represent Kent in the regional finals in January.
Even though the girls have not played as a team for very long they have managed to be adaptable and diligent in their matches and we hope this winning streak will continue for the girls next term.
