On Tuesday 5 December, the Young Shakespeare Company visited the Junior School to bring a performance of Macbeth to Year 6 students.
As part of their English curriculum, the boys study a Shakespearean play every year and the Christmas performance of Macbeth is always one that delights. The quality of acting on offer from the Young Shakespeare Company was, as always, outstanding and there were plenty of opportunities for the students to get involved. As a slightly shorter version of the Scottish play, this performance enabled the students to learn the story as well as gained a stronger understanding of the characters’ individual motives.
After they had left the workshop, the students commented that it had been “phenomenal” – worthy praise indeed for something that had generated so much positive discussion within the classroom.
