Eltham College played host to the regional ‘zone’ heats of the English Primary Schools Chess Association tournament on Saturday 3 February. Approximately twenty teams from six local schools took part, including two from Eltham College Junior School in each of the Under 9 and Under 11 sections. A long day’s chess included five rounds of matches, some lasting over an hour!
In the end there was good news for the Eltham College players- three teams (Under 9 As and the Under 11 As and Bs) all qualifying for the regional finals in Camber Sands in May. The Under 11A team achieved the best result of the day, finishing third in their competition. Well done to all of the boys who took part.
