On Friday 2 February, the Under 11A and B football teams travelled over to St. Dunstan’s College for their first matches of the season. The weather conditions were just about perfect in terms of being dry and not too windy, just right for some good quality football.

The A Team were playing their first match of the season and started off a little tentatively. On a big pitch and playing 9-a-side, rather than 7-a-side, it took them a little while to get going. It wasn’t a surprise that it was St. Dunstan’s College who scored first, slipping behind our defense and putting the ball past Toby Chick in goal. However, the boys quickly fought back and through some determination particularly by Jarvis Sheehan, were able to capitalise on a couple of St. Dunstan mistakes, with Jarvis scoring brilliantly in the bottom right corner.

From then on it was end to end football with some great chances going to both teams. Unfortunately, neither team were able to put the ball into the back of the net and so it ended 1-1 at the final whistle.

The B Team having already played one match, worked much better together and quickly took control of the game. With some good interlinking play by the midfield – Dylan Tootill and Peter Goddard of note, they quickly took the lead and went on to score four goals without reply. Harry O’Hara scoring a brace, adding to his tally of two goals from the previous match. A brilliant performance by all the boys.
