Year 8 students spent the final week of the Easter Break at the Simply Outdoors activity centre in Tavistock.

Much of the week was spent on Dartmoor where the students spent time hiking across the moor, playing wide games, and abseiling and climbing in Foggintor Quarry. Two nights were also spent at a remote farmhouse called Nun’s Cross Farm.

There were plenty of water sports too- and not just running to avoid the rain and hail! The students went kayaking and canoeing in Exeter and they built rafts in their groups which they then raced across a lake near the activity centre.

Despite some mixed weather, spirits were never dampened, and all the students threw themselves into every activity on offer. All the students who were part of the trip should be enormously proud of their courage in trying new things and the determination that they demonstrated when tackling challenges.

Thanks go to all the students involved, to the staff at the outdoors centre who provided us with an action-packed programme, and to Mr Beattie and Dr Hill who accompanied the trip.
