On Tuesday 1 May, ten young budding Engineers from Year 8 spent the day at the Emirates Stadium at TeenTech City with representatives from companies and research institutions as well as students from top universities. Students spent the day exploring the opportunities on offer in the Science, Technology, Construction and Engineering industries.

A team challenge was set to design and present a tech idea to which the students designed a smart desk. They then presented their idea to the 50 students who attended from schools all over London. The boys performed with confidence and were awarded the Best Design Award for their idea.

The boys also learnt about the challenges of remote power generation, use of virtual reality in all sorts of industries, including training in the Army, the use of robotics in medicine and learnt about ‘responsible’ hacking and why online security is so vital in the modern day. The students involved were Talal Al-Musafir, Ali Majeed, Blue Collard, Charlie Padfield, Georgiy Savchenko, Luke McCool, Miles Turnell, Sebastian Jarvis, Thomas Stringer, Tobi Clement.
