On Thursday 17 May, Eltham College Parents’ Association hosted their first informative event, “Talking Through Childhood, exploring how best to communicate with our children and look after their emotional health.” Over 100 Parents came along to hear Mark and Jess, the school’s counsellors and Jeremy Todd, Chief Executive of the charity Family Lives, speak about the issues around this, and offered ideas and strategies that could help.
There followed an extremely useful question and answer session with both them and members of the school’s pastoral team and there was time afterwards to speak to individual speakers if people so wished.
It was a relaxed, informal event and the feedback was extremely positive. The Parent’s Association would be delighted to continue to support the school community by hosting future events such as these and would be interested to hear from anyone who has any suggestions of topics they would like to learn more about.
