1st XV – MR HOWARD

The first XV team continued their winning streak with a 27 – 7 win over Ravens Wood School, tries were scored by James Sawkings, John-Tobi Agboola and Zac Filmer with Jacob Buckley converting them all and kicking two penalties.

2ND XV – MR THOMAS

The 2nd XV recorded a convincing win over Ravens Wood School on Saturday by 35 – 7. Eltham was always dominant in the match scoring tries by Tomassso Candita – Simpkins (2), Ken Dixson, George Robinson and James Eckel. Toby Baldwin converted all the tries in an excellent kicking display. Eltham spurned many more try-scoring opportunities with poor decision making and will have to be more clinical against stiffer opposition. Harry Southgate and Finn Formica carried the ball effectively in the forwards and George Robinson, and Joel Chanthirakumaran always looked threatening with the ball in hand.

Under 16A – MR CHESTERTON

The Under 16A won their third game of the season with a 24-19 victory over a physical Ravens Wood School side. The game was more a test of character and teamwork than one of rugby skill. Playing on a narrow pitch, and in wet conditions, the boys had to adapt their normal game plan. Eltham struggled to take advantage of playing downhill in the first half with only a Charlie Watkins try to show for their efforts. However, a 5-minute spell of strong defence meant the halftime score was only 12-7 to Ravens Wood, and Eltham seemed to have the momentum. A more composed second-half performance saw two tries from Ben Mirchandani as Eltham took control of the game. It was a whole squad effort, but captain James Lambton, Joe Abu and Charlie Watkins led the way with their physicality. A hard fought win, and plenty to learn from a tricky encounter.

Under 15A – MR DAVIES

The Under 15A team suffered a narrow loss of 26 – 29 points at Ravenswood. The boys played well in parts but made too many mistakes which gifted tries to Ravenswood. As the game progressed so the team’s performance improved resulting in a close finish with Eltham camped on the Ravenswood line. Matthew Arman made a welcome return to the side scoring four tries, three of which were converted by Josh Hutchings. Tom Gill on the wing was outstanding in defence and typified the spirit in the team.

Under 15B – MR HOUGHTON

The Under 15B team had a brave and dominant performance against a physical Ravenswood side. Excellent tackling from James Parker and Lucas Dastros-Pitei, good brinkmanship from Fergus Bidwell and Tommy Samani and some extraordinary runs from Gavril Ierotheou gave us the win 24-19.

UNDER 14B – MR BROWN

The Under 14Bs ground out a deserving win against Ravenswood. Players who are new to rugby played well, getting involved and looking for work. Tackling practice needed but it was pleasing to see the team stick together despite many injuries.

Under 12A – MR KING

The Under 12A team started their season with an impressive 75-5 win over Ravenswood on Friday afternoon. A special mention must go to Kola who scored nine tries.
