On the 24 of November, four keen debaters attended the regional rounds of the Cambridge Schools Debating Competition. Eltham College was represented by two teams: Laurie (Year 11) and Louis (Year 11), along with Benjamin Allen (U6) and Hashim (L6).
The day itself was both intense and enjoyable, with both teams participating in four debates as the competition progressed. The debates followed the British Parliamentary format where four teams are competing against each other in a single debate. Both teams performed very well, expressing clear and concise arguments, especially considering the fact that the motions were only announced 15 minutes before the actual debate. Ben and Hashim will now progress to the national rounds, as a result of a top two finish in the regional rounds.
