This year’s successful Oxford and Cambridge applicants embody what we have defined as ‘intellectual sparkle’. Throughout their time in school they have seen themselves as the drivers of their own educational journey, and have always sought to dig deeper and ask probing questions to open up a topic and generate more complex debate. Ultimately, they have approached learning with a sense of wonder and playful curiosity combined with a questioning, critical mind. Of course their academic record has also played an important role in securing their place, with each student possessing at least nine GCSEs at A* or equivalent.
