U15A
6-0 Loss
A tough day for the U15A team who came up against a very strong St Georges side. They worked hard for the whole game but were unable to kept St Georges at bay and in turn were unable to put the ball in the back of the net ourselves. Lots to be done in training this week as we prepare for next weekend.
U15B
1-0 Loss
The U15B team were involved in a tight affair against a good St Georges side who were also going to be real challenge. A good win over St Lawrence during the week meant the Eltham boys went into the game with confidence but just couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net. Valiant defending kept St Georges at bay for the majority of the game but they were able to sneak one in, sealing the victory for St Georges.
U14A
With a very large number of boys missing this week it was always going to be a tough game for the U14A team. Going 1-0 down in 15 seconds didn’t get them off to the best start and was a sign of things to come sadly. Another lesson was dealt to Eltham from a very strong George’s team, there were some good performances from a few individual players. Hopefully, we will field a full squad next week and win against Caterham.
U14B
5-0 Loss
On a sunny spring morning it was a somewhat bare-boned squad that made the journey out to Weybridge. The teams were closely matched in terms of speed and skill, and perhaps the major difference was a competitive edge in the tackle and a superior ball speed from the home side. Eltham conceded a few goals through failing to clear the ball when under pressure in the D. At the back Lachlan tackled strongly, up front Ethan made some enterprising runs, but we were unable to make the best of some clear chances. A special mention to Yuxuan who filled in as a last-minute goalie.
U13A
The under 13 boys produced a solid display, only going down 4-2 to a very strong St George’s team. Ben got the team off to a brilliant start scoring within five minutes, setting the tone for a good battle between the two sides.
Charlie and Jacob played just as well as any of the opposition players, all of whom play for very successful clubs.
Noah made a number of good saves, but George’s were relentless in their pursuit to equalise and then take the lead. John and Boris were solid in defence and out letted with confidence and poise. Despite missing several players we were an equal match and only a couple of unusual goals took the win away from Eltham. Charlie scored an extremely composed goal on the final whistle to top off a really good performance from him. Overall this was a very promising performance that with a full squad shows a win in the National Cup on Friday is possible.
U13B-D
All the u13 sides had a tough day out. It’s always good to see where we are on a national scale and George’s gave us that marker. The boys worked exceptionally hard in the B, C and D matches with each and everyone trying to put into practice all they have learned this term. Across all games George’s had some real talent on display and our boys found it hard to match. 7 a side is a tough game as the ball can get from one end to the other in a flash. The teams will have learned plenty from this weekend and we will put that into practice next week.
U13D
The U13D boys were involved in an extremely tight affair with both teams having their fair share of attacking opportunities. Eltham had the chance to draw level right at the death only to be denied by the St Georges keeper who produced a spectacular save. St Georges capitalized on the few errors that we made and took their chances with final score finishing 4-3 in St Georges favor. The Eltham boys should be proud of their performance as the game could’ve gone either way.
U12A
Our U12A team were given a good lesson in how hockey should really be played. St George’s College fielded a team littered with players who have played club hockey since they were 6/7 years old for successful clubs such as Surbiton and Teddington. Although Eltham fought hard and matched their opposition in effort, St George’s were just far too experienced and pitch wise. The Eltham boys never gave up and hopefully some valuable lessons will have been learned from this experience and make the boys stronger as a team for the years to come.
U12B-D
St. George’s College is our strongest fixture with the U12’s coming up against some good opposition. The C team had a tough day as their opposition pushed them hard for the full 45 minutes scoring numerous goals. The boys never gave up but this was a tough task. The D side had a good game with both sides pushing each other hard. A 1-3 defeat suggests a one sided affair but this was far from the truth. The B side had an excellent game as the play swung from end to end. The boys should have taken the lead at the far post but with 10 seconds remaining in the 1st third St George’s scored. The team would continue to push and had a couple of good chances before a five minute period of opposition dominance put George’s 4-0 up. In The final 3rd the B side found their composure and 2 goals and 0 conceded saw a good finish to the morning.
