On Saturday 2 March the Eltham College Fencing Team competed in the British Team Championships at Rickmansworth, competing in both the U15 and U18 Foil categories.
The U15 Foil team (Seb Jarvis, Ludo Jones, Oscar Pouw and Faraz Shah) faced tough competition in their group. Their most impressive result of the day was beating Glyn School, to secure 5th place overall.
The U18 Foil team (Louis Ayin-Walsh, Aaron Edobor, Lachlan Jarvie and Francesco Roccato) performed well in the group stage, beating Brentwood and Millfield B to qualify as group stage winners. They were able to come through a tough knockout tie against Eton before facing Millfield A in the final. The team lost to Millfield A 45-42 but such an impressive performance of four Year 11 students in an U18 competition secured the team 2nd place and promises much for the future of Fencing at Eltham College.
