The Under 16 team retained their title as Kent Champions with several fantastic team performances against strong schools. After a minor hiccup in the first game against Duke of York, the squad turned it around against Maidstone, St Olave’s and Skinners, winning all three to qualify into the quarterfinals.

A nail-biting encounter in the quarter-final against Langley Park resulted in a Charlie Watkins last-ditch winner to clinch it. Following that, a comprehensive, team victory against Home side Sutton Valence in atrocious weather sent the boys through to the final in high spirits after a Reyhan Taraq did brilliantly to open his try-scoring account for Eltham College.

Four tries in quick succession including a hat trick from Charlie Watkins had the crowd and coaches well and truly ‘gassed’ and despite a late comeback from Maidstone, we did enough to be crowned champions. The determination and willingness to play for each other throughout the day was fantastic to see.
