During the Easter break, ten German students from Year 10 to Sixth Form, undertook a four day cultural trip to the Austrian Capital, Vienna. In an action-packed four days, we saw many highlights, including Schönbrunn Palace, the UN headquarters, Stephansdom, Prater, Hundertwasserhaus, the Spanish Riding School and we visited the Haus der Musik; a museum celebrating the first Viennese music school made up of the composers Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven.

As is to be expected in a city whose Coffee House Culture forms part of UNESCO, we ate very well throughout, trying Austrian specialities such as the Käserkrainer sausage, as well as a Goulash restaurant and a Strudel masterclass session. My highlight was attempting to eat a ‘metre of Austria’ with Archie K, which we got quite close to finishing!

Huge thanks to Miss Franz for organising the trip with her usual military precision, it was a truly memorable four days.
