It was a busy week of cricket with a block fixture against Reigate Grammar School and plenty of midweek cup and friendlies.
The U12B, C and D travelled to Reigate on Friday afternoon during Games and although we fell short in each game they were close matches. The B team were bowled out for 86 and in a close finish, Reigate reached the target having lost 8 wickets. The C team kept Reigate to 108 in 20 overs but despite Alex Brown top scoring we couldn’t get going with the bat and lost by 29 runs. Thevyan top scored in the Ds whilst Sam McCoy took two wickets in his 2 overs in a narrow 8 run defeat. The U12A side travelled to Simon Langton on Friday for their Kent Cup 3rd round fixture and restricted a good opposition to just 94-6 off 20 overs. Akhil (39) and Ed Castle batted very well in reply to get us close before a couple of late wickets saw us reach the target in the 15th over with 3 wickets down. On Saturday morning a superb batting performance saw us post 212 in 25 overs. Akhil again top scored with 85 and was well supported by Alex Bush who scored 29. Reigate gave it a real go in reply and it was tough to defend on small boundaries but Eltham clung on to win by 3 runs.
The U13s had a huge amount of cricket last week. The A team lost a narrow fixture to Bickley Park Prep last Monday as we were 25 runs short in our chase despite Matthew Chick’s 42. The side then beat Chis&Sid in the cup on Thursday after school with Matthew, Ben Adamson, Max Dugard and Dom Wade all batting well before Max and Ben followed that up with 4 wickets each. And finally on Saturday the side put in a superb performance to beat Reigate by 35 runs. Matthew and Ben again led the way with the bat as we scored 114 before a superb bowling and fielding display. The 13Bs also had a busy week as some excellent batting by Fred, Lysander, Hector and Dylan Dreyer helping us to post 131 against Bickley Park Prep which was backed up by superb bowling by Guy and Fred to win by 15 runs. The side won their cup match against Bexley GS on Tuesday by 9 wickets as Jamie Sears took 5 wickets and Dan Barker 3 in a 9 wicket victory. A mixed side had a much tougher day on Saturday at Reigate but great to see so many students representing the school at this age group.
The U14s were under strength as they traveled to Reigate on Saturday morning and although the A and B teams put up a good fight both ended up losing to good sides. The Reigate A team had one excellent batsman who took the match away from us.
The U15s also had a busy week with the A team playing Langley Park last Tuesday, Harvey GS on Friday and Reigate on Saturday. Langley batted well to post 170 in 25 overs last Tuesday. Despite some early wickets Charlie Reynolds, Will Langton and Matt Arman all played well to put us in with a chance before the overs ran out and left us 20 short. An incredible bowling performance on Friday led the side to a 10 wicket win. Louis Radley took 4 wickets for 14 runs from 4 overs and Matt took 5 for 8 as we bowled out Harvey for just 26. The boys had a frustrating match against Reigate on Saturday. Eltham restricted the opposition to 126 in 25 overs with Charlie R taking 3-16 off 5 overs and Louis bowling well. We couldn’t get going with the bat and fell 15 short. The U15B were well beaten on Saturday after a disappointing display although they showed some fight with the bat to score over 100 in tough circumstances.
