Despite the wet weather last week all age groups were still busy with cricket and we had an excellent block versus New Hall school on Saturday.
The Under 12As kept up their unbeaten season as a mixed side first beating Sevenoaks on Friday afternoon before a superb performance saw them beat New Hall. Rex was the star on Friday with 4 wickets including a hat trick as we defended our total of 194 which was built on Harry’s 39, Matt A’s 33 and Ed’s 32. Then on Saturday Akhil scored a fantastic 100 and he shared a partnership with Jake of 150, as Jake also scored 67. Our total of 194 proved far too high for a good New Hall side as we bowled them out for 102 with 9 players bowling. The U12Bs unfortunately lost a close game to Skinners B on Friday in the Kent Cup Plate as despite posting an excellent 130 in 20 overs, thanks to good contributions from Noah, Tom, Dan, Oscar A and Harry H, we weren’t able to build any pressure with our bowling. It was a similar story on Saturday against New Hall as Tom again batted well opening but we didn’t score enough runs on a small pitch.
The Under 13As struggled with the bat on their trip to New Hall and it was left to Nithin to score an excellent 37 to drag us up to 95 in 20 overs. Then despite some early wickets and a good spell from Ben A the side lost by 5 wickets. It was a similar story for the Bs as despite a good 22 from Oles with the bat and a good spell by Dan B who took 2 wickets we were beaten by 6 wickets. The 13Bs Cup run also ended in a tough match against Sevenoaks As last Friday. Oles again batted well to top score. The team should be proud of their performance in reaching the Plate quarter final.
After having their Kent Cup quarter final match vs Tonbridge postponed last Thursday the Under 14s were let down by availability on Saturday morning. A tough match followed for the As who lost early wickets and didn’t recover despite bowling well. The Bs had a close match at New Hall after a reasonable bowling display kept New Hall to 160 in 25 overs with Chris J and Jacob J bowling with most consistency. Dylan led our reply with 40 runs and supported by Isaiah and Finn we took it to the last over but fell 20 short.
The Under 15As had a match to forget against Skinners last Tuesday in the Kent Cup Quarter Final which was a shame but they bounced back with an excellent win against New Hall. The team bowled and fielded well with Benjy taking 3 wickets to restrict the opposition to 140 from 25 overs. Benjy also led the reply scoring an excellent 45 before Max M smashed a four and two sixes in 5 balls to lead the team home to a 5 wicket win.
The 1st XI had a good match against a strong New Hall side but ultimately finished 44 runs short of the 235 run target. Joe B and Connor again bowled excellent spells after a tough start in the field to slow New Hall’s scoring after they had won the toss. Reyhan bowled well at the end to pick up 4 wickets as Anu, Ken and Rikin all took superb catches. A superb opening few overs from the New Hall fast bowlers put us on the back foot and although Ken rebuilt well with Ben M we kept losing wickets at the wrong time in our chase. Rikin, Archie and Connor joined Ken and Ben in scoring 30s but no one kicked on and we finished 191-8.
