U18 A Netball vs. Hayes A 3-40 loss
Due to some illness, the A team were down a couple of players, however Tabby and Mfon made an excellent debut performance in defence. The girls started strong, applying pressure to Hayes in the circle, forcing them to make errors. It didn’t take long for both teams to settle into play, where Hayes then dominated the game throughout. The scoreline unfortunately does not reflect the play of the team. The team made some excellent turn overs of the ball and had some lovely movement down court. The height of defence seemed to put our shooters off, and due to players defending well we found it difficult to get the ball under the post. Overall there was some promising play, however moving forwards the girls need to show more aggression in their play where they have a want for the ball. Player of the match was awarded to Orla Cullens.
U18 B Netball vs. Hayes B 7-22 loss
The scoreline for the B team certainly does not reflect their play! The B’s had a fantastic game, considering it was the first time the team had played together with some new additions. Unfortunately the B’s did not have a good first quarter, so from then on it was chasing the game. Liv made some fantastic interceptions of the ball, working effectively with Ike and Emily as a strong defensive trio. Jaimie had fantastic movement around the court and switched to GA in the last quarter, where she scored a couple of goals. The team were positive throughout and grew with confidence. The hard work paid off as they won the final quarter 4-2, showing that they were the stronger team towards the end of the game. Player of the match was awarded to Jaimie Formica. We look forward to seeing how the B’s progress over the coming weeks.
