Today students are celebrating the highest A level results ever achieved at Eltham College, with results improving for the fourth year in a row.
Of all grades awarded 44% were A* and 85% of all grades awarded were A* or A. A remarkable achievement with over 20% of the year group securing at least A*A*A* and 75% of the year group securing a minimum of AAA or higher.
92% of students achieved the grades they required to be accepted at their chosen university with students set to study a wide range of subjects at top UK universities next academic year from Maths to Music and Marine Biology to Medicine.
Of the group of students, we are delighted that more than one in ten of our students will be taking up places at Medical Schools up and down the country, including Cambridge, St Andrews and UCL, this September. The dedicated medicine pathway at Eltham College provides students with a weekly group seminar to investigate and discuss a range of clinical and ethical issues right from the early stages of the Lower Sixth through to the culmination of their interviews in the Upper Sixth. Part of this programme dovetails with the school’s Community Service programme, with prospective medics volunteering at local care homes to broaden their experience.
One of them, Amelia Duggan said “Given the turmoil of the last six months it is an absolute relief to know that my fellow students and I have still managed to achieve these record-breaking results. Eltham College has helped me to achieve my dream of studying medicine at university. I am so grateful for all the support I have had over the last two years, both in-person and remotely!”
Head Boy, Conrad Scrivener added “I can’t thank everyone at Eltham College enough for all they have done for me since I began at the school, especially my teachers and the Sixth Form team who have supported me to ensure I got the grades I need to study Social Sciences at Durham University next year. It is such an incredibly supportive environment here and I’m going to miss it”.
