In their final session of the term, the Year 7 Scholars, led by Mr Cook the Head of English, examined some of the art and poetry of William Blake. Beginning with a fascinating look at how the development of garden design in the 19th century reflected the growth of the Romantic spirit, the students examined some of Blake’s poetry and the artwork with which Blake framed his works. Inspired by this fusion of words and images, they then created their own border art around the
poem “London”.
The Romantic spirit of optimism and possibility was a fitting way to round off the varied and engaging programme the scholars have followed this year
