Year 7 Scholars led by Mr Max Gennari were given an excellent insight into the world of design and engineering. The students were shown the wonderful capabilities of a 3-d printer and other technologies as well as watching a video about the many and varied careers in Engineering.
The range of skills involved in the subject, was similar to the work the students have done on Saltaire earlier in the year, where the factory buildings were designed with functionality but also owed a debt to the architecture of the Italian Renaissance.
Most importantly the students thought about why engineering has traditionally been a male dominated profession, how that has changed and is changing and what opportunities are opening up for future generations joining the workforce.
