Fold, Connect, Create at Origami Club
Eltham College offers a diverse range of extracurricular clubs and activities to its students, from sports teams to debating societies. Among these is the Origami club, which provides a unique and calming atmosphere for students to create intricate structures out of paper, forming an ideal way to unwind and focus on the present moment.
The process of constructing the current origami penguins is slow and meticulous, requiring patience and dedication. However, the end result will be well worth it as the students are able to create fantastic structures they will be proud of.
The club meets every Thursday lunchtime to continue with the construction, giving the students an opportunity to take a break from their busy schedules and engage in a mindful activity. By focusing on folding and connecting paper, they are able to be present in the moment and forget about the stresses of the day.
The students enjoy the process of creating their structured designs, watching them gradually take shape and grow into something beautiful. This not only provides a sense of satisfaction but also develops their creativity and dexterity.
In a world where we are constantly on the go, the Origami club provides a sanctuary for students to slow down and engage in a calming activity. It is a wonderful way to promote mindfulness and relaxation, as well as cultivate a sense of community among its members.
