The Eltham College Ski Race Team competed at the Kent Schools Ski Championship on Sunday 7 May at Chatham Snowsports Centre. We had 13 racers compete on the day and we were thrilled to have some excellent racing from every team member with all racers completing the course.

The Primary team started out the day, unfortunately we had a few tumbles, and the team did not place but they had a great experience and enjoyed their first experience racing in an interschool competition.

The secondary teams were up next, who managed secured some fantastic wins. Boden Kelly (Year 10), Zach Szollosi (year 9), Alex Bosviel (Year 8) and Oscar Jones (Year 7) took home 1st place in the Senior Secondary Male Teams and bought back the fastest Secondary male team overall for the third year in a row, a massive achievement for the team beating all male teams from year 7 to year 13. Our Lower Secondary Male team unfortunately had a tumble but still all manged to stay on course but were just beaten out for 3rd place by 1.5 seconds.

Next on the podium was Santi Harrison (year 6), Isaac Brown (year 7) and Lily Ferreday (year 8) who took home first place in the Lower Secondary Mixed teams, not only that but they bought home the trophy for the fastest secondary mixed team overall, this is the first ever mixed ski racing trophy the school has won, we are thrilled to have had such a great result.

A special mention to Alex Bosviel (year 8) for his mixed schools team winning the dual slalom knockout competition, a race where 4 students from all different schools join together to compete against other mixed school groups. Boden Kelly (year 10) also placed in 3rd for this event.

Finally, Boden Kelly (year 10) took home the 2nd fastest male racer and 2nd fastest racer overall for the entire competition, a massive achievement for Boden coming up against racers in year 13 and below.

Well done to each and every single student who competed and a huge thank you to all the parents who came and supported the team on the day.
