Eltham Chess Team Competes in the English National Finals

As Kent Champions, Eltham College travelled to Nottingham to compete in the English National Finals. Our team, which consists of James (Year 11), Yash (Year 7), Yueci (Year 6), Gaurav (Year 9), Cyrus (Year 12), and Kaiden (Year 9) played six matches, with each session often lasting up to two hours, providing a true test of both skill and endurance. Smart board technology enabled the games to be live streamed to spectators in the players’ lounge and to families watching from home. We finished with three wins and one draw, placing us 12th nationally—well ahead of our original seeding.
