Support Eltham College

Tax Benefit on Charitable Giving in the UK

Donations by individuals to Eltham College are tax free. This is called tax relief. Your donations will qualify as long as they are not more than 4 times what you have paid in Capital Gains or Income tax in that tax year (6 April to 5 April).

You will need to make a Gift Aid declaration for the charity to claim and you can include all donations from the last 4 years.

How Gift Aid Works

Eltham College is a registered charity, No. 1058438. The Gift Aid scheme is for gifts of money by individuals who pay UK tax and means that for every £100 you give through Gift Aid, it will be worth £125 to Eltham College. Further information about Tax-Relief and Gift Aid can be found on the HMRC website.

Tax-Efficiency for European donors

Twenty-one European countries are now giving tax efficient benefits for cross-border philanthropic gifts and donations to help and support foreign charities. If you pay tax in a European country, you may be eligible to receive tax benefits as a result of the decision by the European Court of Justice in January 2009.

At a European level, Transnational Giving Europe (TGE) network is a practical and secure solution for tax-effective cross-border cash donations. TGE Partners includes 21 countries and enables donors resident in one of the participating countries to financially support nonprofit organisations in other Member States, while benefitting directly from the tax advantages provided for in the legislation of their country of residence.

European donors wishing to receive tax relief for cross-border donations, will need to contact their local partner office. For complete information please contact the Transnational Giving Europe (TGE).
