Eltham College are delighted to announce that our Phonetic Name Pronunciation initiative ‘Every Name Matters’ has won the Equality Diversity and Inclusion Award at the prestigious annual AMCIS Impact awards hosted by AMCIS (Admissions, Marketing and Communications in Independent Schools) at their annual conference on the evening of Monday 15th May.
Eltham College won the award against worthy competition and the award demonstrates that the distinct and innovative ‘Every Name Matters’ campaign has raised awareness about the significance of correctly pronouncing student names and the impact it can have on building a more inclusive and respectful community.
Guy Sanderson, Headmaster of Eltham College said: “This is a brilliant achievement for our school and a testament to the dedication Gideon Hammond and the pastoral team who worked tirelessly to develop this programme. It demonstrates our commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion as well mutual respect across our whole school community.”
Gideon Hammond, lead on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at Eltham College collected the award. He said: “This award is a wonderful recognition of our efforts towards fostering an environment of inclusivity, and we will continue to strive for excellence in this regard in all areas of school life”.
