On Wednesday, October 11th, 54 students from Year 7 to 11 headed to Avery Hill Park to compete in the Greenwich Schools Cross Country Championship.
We achieved incredible results, and all students should be proud. In the individual results, Johnny (Year 7) and Daniel (Year 9) secured 1st place in their age groups, Nathan (Year 8), Tilly (Year 10), and Olly (Year 11) achieved 2nd place in their age groups, while Monty (Year 8) and Matt (Year 9) claimed 3rd place. Dara (Year 8) and Sam (Year 11) earned 4th place in their age groups. Furthermore, we had several students finish in the top ten, including Hattie (Year 8), Eloise (Year 8), Tessa (Year 9), Darcy (Year 9), Elsie (Year 9), Alex (Year 7), Toby (Year 7), Joe (Year 8), Aaron (Year 8), and Alex (Year 9).
In addition to these remarkable individual results, our team results were outstanding. Our Year 8 Boys, Year 8 Girls, and Year 9 Boys all secured 1st place in their age groups. Our Year 7 Boys, Year 9 Girls, and Year 10 and 11 Boys achieved 2nd place in their age groups. It was a wonderful afternoon of racing for all students.
The racing didn’t stop there, with 25 students competing the following day, October 12th, in the English Schools Cross Country Qualifiers hosted for the first time at Eltham College. Olly (Year 11) claimed 1st place in the Year 11, 12, and 13 boys age group, Daniel (Year 9) secured 2nd place in the Year 9 and 10 boys age group, and Monty (Year 8) earned 3rd place in the Year 7 and 8 boys age group. Once again, we had several students finish in the top 10, including Johnny (Year 7), Nathan (Year 8), Joe (Year 8), Aaron (Year 8), Matt (Year 9), Sam (Year 11), Theo (Year 13), and Tilly (Year 10).
Our teams also performed excellently overall. The Year 7 and 8 Boys team, consisting of Monty , Nathan , Aaron , Joe , Johnny , and Alex , secured 1st place in their age group. Year 11 and 13 boys, including Olly , Sam , Theo , and Orin , came away with 2nd place in their age group. The Year 9 and 10 boys team, comprising Daniel , Matt , Aidan , Tom , Will , and Zach , achieved 3rd place in their age group. All three teams have qualified for the next round of the competition, which will take place on November 11th, just a few short weeks away.
