Before the holiday break on Wednesday the 7th of February, 35 Eltham students headed to Wormwood Scrubs Park to compete at the London Schools Cross Country Championship. It was an excellent day for the Eltham Team with many fantastic results despite the very muddy conditions.

Our Junior Boys A team Matias (Year 9), Daniel (Year 9), Monty (Year 8), Nathan (Year 8), Aaron (Year 8) and Joe (Year 8) secured 1st place in their age group out of 20 teams with some fantastic results against some tough competition, special mention to Matias who finished 12th out of 135 runners. Our Year 7 team (Alex C, Johnny, Toby, Aran, Alex T and David) who competed in the Junior Boys B race finished in 4th place out of 17 teams.

Congratulations to Olly (year 11) who finished in 3rd place in the Intermediate Boys race and Sam (Year 11) who finished in 14th in the same race. Tilly (year 10) finished 14th in the Intermediate Girls race. A massive well done to Olly who has been selected for the London Schools Team competing at the English Schools Cross Country Finals in a few weeks at Pontefract Racecourse on the 16th of March. Matias (Year 9), Tilly (Year 10) and Sam (Year 11) have all been selected as reserves for the London Schools Team for the finals.

Congratulations to all the students who competed throughout the day, they all ran excellently and should be very proud of their results.

We look forward to hearing how our students do at the English Schools Finals.
