Yesterday, the Year 8 Scholars led by Mr Chris Cook were reading and perhaps more importantly visualising “Stealing the Boat” part of William Wordsworth’s The Prelude. Having listened to a reading of the poem, always an essential element of appreciating it, our students then analysed elements of language and structure, reflecting on its romantic elements as well as the concept of the sublime. The session ended with some thoughts about how similar ideas are also present in the poem Composed upon Westminster Bridge.
